MISERY ON CAMPUS (SEASON 1; EPISODE 5, 6 & 7)

EPISODE FIVE

The next Monday favour stepped out in search of work and as God may have it she was employed in a primary school which would pay #15,000 at the end of the month. She didn't bother going back home but insisted on starting already. So she was assigned her job and was given class and her table.

She was too happy and could not wait to return back home to share the good news. School dismisses and with so much happiness she raced home and on getting home she saw her mom and her siblings jubilating like never before. She was in total confusion and asked the reason for the celebration, her mum told her that one of her dad's maternal Uncle has credited her account with one million naira of which to foot some bills especially for the coming burial.

She was so happy and told her mum the good news too. That same afternoon favour second semester school fee was paid and her siblings school fees too were paid. Her mum rented a small shop and the loan borrowed from the bank was paid . She also deposited some to the family account in preparations for the burial. The remaining money left was a sum of #30,000 which was given to favour for her upkeep for the main time.

After the burial of favour's Dad it was time to return back to school as the 2-months strike was called off and Adanna had called her that test begins immediately.

Favour's mom gave her enough food stuff as she could afford, She hugged her mum tightly as tears rolled down her cheeks, So she set for school on the next day.

Inside the bus, she prayed and called upon God, she prayed for her mum and siblings and remembered her dad and cried bitterly, she did loved him and wished she had at least saw him for the last time, then she remembered scchool and stress and how she is going to cope for another semseter. She heaved a sigh of relief and said to herself "father take the lead." When she alighted from the bus, Adanna was right there waiting for her. She helped her to carry her luggage and they hugged each other..

EPISODE SIX

Second semester has begun in earnest after the just concluded long holidays. Students showcasing new clothes, trending musical, buying of

handouts, textbooks , undergoing course registration and to mention but a few. The school has begun fully and reading has started too.

Adanna who has been complaining of boredom in her lodge has succeeded in convincing favour to be her roommate and that she doesn't mind paying the rent and bills. Favour moved to Adanna's lodge and they started doing things together as they were in the same department and level.

On Monday morning, they both woke up, favour went to the kitchen while Adanna was cleaning the room and toilet. They both prayed and set for lectures together.

Their lecture hall is situated at the outskirts of the school back gate not too far from their lodge so they walked down there or took the school shuttle. Today was a bit different because this is the first time they are both walking down together to school, those times, it's either they met on the way or they came back together. They had barely reached the hall before David stopped them. David is one of the most handsome, brilliant and smart guys of the department. He stopped them half way seeking for favour's attention.

" Hey favour I want to see you at the end of today's lecture, please I promise not to take your time please " he said. "Oh erm she struggled not to meet his gaze ...erm", she muttered.

"Honey please", he then caught her gaze moving a bit closer to her and she staggered backward a little. "Oh! ok it's fine" she concluded.

"Thank you" he said and she smiled sheepishly. She took Adanna's hand and hurried to the lecture hall half in thoughts. Her mind was like "what does this one wants now, see I'm not ready for any relationship. I am not ready to love yet again because in time past it yielded nothing. Why is this happening? why does he wants to see me? I hate people, I don't even need anyone!! David just leave me!!" as she

Fought herself with words.  Adanna noticed this and asked ,"Favour why are you fighting yourself?".

"Hey babe I am not fighting my feelings I just want to be sure of what am about doing. I want to know why.........."  before she could conclude her statement the lecturer came in and everyone went to their various seat in class. The lecturer began with questions.

"What is electrostatic force" he booked and I need a lady to help with the answer.

Everyone eyes was that  no lady was ready to stand on her feet and the lectuer then threatened to leave the class. Then favour stood on the gap for the class as beautiful as ever she stood up with her hair reaching her neck and her complexion radiating like the sun without make-ups, looking natural.  David was dumbfounded he couldn't stop gazing he really did had nothing bad in mind but he loved her boldness. She answered correctly. After the class ended, students were coming to her and asking for her phone number. Then she remembered her meeting with David and went to see him..

EPISODE SEVEN

(He caught her fancy)

They sat down and were deep in silence, none of them was ready to break the silence so she decided to. " David so....." she had barely completed her statement and David interrupted unexpectedly.

"My dad died as a drunkard"...now he rose his head only now did she noticed that he has been crying all these while. His eyes opened a little and she fixed her gaze on him and tears rolled down profusely on her cheeks.

 He continued......."I came from a very rich family, my dad own a big company of about 20 workers. My mum on the other hand was a super business woman and very much hard working. My dad died a drunkard because he was not careful and lacked, he had bad friends and almost killed my mom before he died. "See favour i know you are suprised at why I am saying all these, but I heard your conversation with Adanna last week ,when you were telling her how your Dad died and so on, I had really wanted to tell you that you are not alone in this. At least your dad died a drunkard because things were not working out but mine having everything in his possession, educated and famous but no wisdom. He lost his life to cold hands of death. What a pity" he lamented as tears dropped down his cheeks.

" I'm sorry"....she managed to say. "i am deeply sorry for the lost.I thought I was the worst hit because I was dying deep down. I barely breathe each day. I pray to God with LITTLE or no faith each day. Sometimes I question the reason for my existence and feel like there is a mess up somewhere but now listening to you I'm a bit startled. My dad struggled ,he was there for me, he ......." She said while crying.

Her voice trailed off and David hugged her tightly as she cried on his body without letting go. "Hey, be strong dear,the society look up to you. common look at you, intelligent, smart ,God fearing , elegant,you really have lots of potentials dear.  In all things never think of taking your life. Always remember your future when those thought come okay?" he said encouragingly...

"She nodded in affirmative still holding him in tears "oya stop crying he tickled her " what do you want to eat let's go and get it. She was running temperature already as he took her by the hand and headed towards a nearby canteen to get her food....

After eating, she told David, jokingly "Avoid me o!"
